Creating the Future

December 7, 2016

US President Abraham Lincoln said “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Creating the future sounds like something warm and fuzzy but without much meaning. But the opposite is true.

Humans spend a lot of time trying to predict the future. Our attempts are usually based on our assessment of what has already happened and how we think that might happen again, with some allowance for a few variables.

But research has shown this to be a very inaccurate science. We think that we are good at predicting the future, but evidence shows that we are very poor at it.

We can’t really predict the future. Nor can we can control it. What we can do, however, is to create it, in the conversations and actions that we have with other people everyday.

What’s the one thing you need to do to create the future for yourself?
